'Halloween' opens to $10 million - the biggest horror film of the year

Horror continues to dominate the fall box office with ‘Halloween Ends’ claiming its largest-ever October haul with $10.1 million.

The film, which cost $10 million to produce, is likely to generate a lot more than that, as it could easily earn more than $25 million from a Friday opening of around $10 million.

The horror film opens on Thursday to an estimated $10 million opening – in line with recent films. Its $9.5 million weekend is easily the biggest for a horror film this October, with ‘Halloween’ opening to just under $10 million for the fourth straight week.
