Tory Lanez is facing house arrest in hopes of a jury trial

Tory Lanez gets house arrest until Megan Thee Stallion assault case goes to trial

Tory Lanez is heading towards her fourth quarter birthday as she faces her toughest stretch yet on her R&B mixtape, “Stoner.” That means she’s now facing a period of house arrest in hopes that the case against her for attacking Megan Thee Stallion will go all the way to the jury deliberation phase.

The four-time Grammy-winning artist, whose rise to fame first saw her appear on a track by hip-hop sensation Ludacris and as a featured artist on Pitbull’s No. 1 Spanish-language hit “Livin’ La Vida Loca,” has always had her share of run ins with the law. She’s had to endure various periods of jail time and probation, two years of probation in 2010 and two years of parole last year after pleading guilty in November to felony assault for allegedly beating a woman at a hotel party.

She has been arrested on charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, disorderly conduct, second-degree theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting and obstructing a public servant and interfering with a police officer, just since June. Meanwhile, her probation in 2010 will expire next month and she is facing an August 20 deadline to surrender to the probation department. It’s the most time she’s had since 2010.

“It’s a scary place for my baby girl to be,” she wrote on Instagram last month. “I’ve been locked up before, and like in my case in the end, she made it out alive. So I wanna be a good mommy and make sure she stays alive in the process of this. But more than anything else, I gotta stay strong.”
