Kelly Reilly: The Great Divide

To play a ‘tornado’ in ‘Yellowstone,’ Kelly Reilly became as obsessive as her fans about the ‘Great Divide,’ the 1,450-mile divide between the eastern and western United States.

The ‘Great Divide’ began with her desire to be a part of the American legend that she grew up watching on television.

A high school senior, Kelly Reilly loved everything to do with television. “When I was little, I used to watch the ‘Batman’ or the ‘Friends’ or the ‘Baywatch’ every night… and that’s the first thing that came to my mind: ‘Hey, I want to be a part of that!”

Her dream was to be as iconic as any of her favorite actors, like Ryan Reynolds (best known for playing Deadpool) or Kristen Bell, who starred as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, and also played the lead role in the 2004 movie ‘Sisterhood.’

“When I was a freshman in high school, I actually went to my school’s film department to study. I wanted to do something that I could be at least a little iconic like those actors I’ve admired.”

Her dream was to be as iconic as any of her favorite actors, like Ryan Reynolds, who played Deadpool in the film ‘Deadpool’

Even though she wanted to study acting, she wasn’t allowed to attend the school. For one, she is half Polish. And in America, being half Polish could get her thrown in a jail.

“So I had to get involved in a different way to learn the trade,” she told the Chicago Tribune. Reilly attended the University of Illinois, and she graduated with a degree in English. After graduating, she moved back to her home country of Poland to work as a translator and writer.
