How to Play Pickleball

Everything you need to know (and more!) about pickleball.

When you’re in the middle of the hustle and bustle of city life, you learn to manage it all.

I was in LA for four days and each night, I took off on the freeway to hang out with my friends who I met through this blog. We hit up the best burger joints and went to all the best museums. While I was busy seeing all the best things, I also had a chance to enjoy one of my favorite summer pasttimes: Pickleball.

Pickleball is an absolute blast; it’s fast, it’s physical, it allows you to work on your skills, and it’s totally social. Pickleball is very similar to other team sports like volleyball (volleyball is played almost exclusively indoors!). It’s a pretty easy sport to pick up and to play.

Pickleball is played on a court made up of two tables. It’s divided into two teams, each which has one player on each table. The player can jump, hit the ball over the net, or drop a ball. The player on the table can catch the ball with their hand or with a pickleball, and then use the pickleball to score points by lobbing the ball back and forth to their partner on the same table. Pickleball is played in several different locations all over California and in many different cities throughout the world. It is extremely popular in places like the LA area, San Francisco, Seattle, Las Vegas, and many other cities around the world. In fact, in the San Francisco Bay Area, it’s one of the top two picks after beach volleyball.
