France vs Tunisia: A 2-1 win over Tunisia

France can win WCup group in style, Tunisia simply must win.

The French won a heartening thriller over Tunisia by 15 runs, securing their first win over the Tunisians in 20 months on the way to a three-point triumph.

Despite some early scares, France were relentless and Tunisia were bowled out of the tournament through sheer ineptitude.

The game had everything for France, they were always the better side and the game was even as far as it went, and the two sides had played each other five times previously.

In addition to their good record against Tunisia, France had played well in their first two games in the tournament and there was considerable expectation that this would be another win.

However, for them it was not to be.

It was a game that should be celebrated in its own country and there is a lot to learn but France need to consider that in defeat they have to be prepared for more of the same from Tunisia.

The game started as it is meant to be played, a very even first day of play but the tension between the two sides was palpable.

Tunisia, who have a habit of finishing in the top three of the group and have made some headway in their qualifying campaign, started well and their innings looked as good as any in the tournament.

But like the rest of their batsmen, they could not get going in the batting order, with the occasional half-volley or a couple of runs through to the late overs.

England, who have finished second in the group and have looked the stronger side in the tournament, were never really in contention, with few of their openers making it through to the 20th over.

The start of the game was dominated by a series of yorkers which the Tunisians hit with confidence.

England were always in the game with the ball but the way they played their shots was not as threatening as the way the Tunisians played.
