Dolly Parton brings Christmas joy to Dollywood theme park with ‘Away in a Manger’

Dolly Parton is bringing a little Christmas joy to Dollywood theme park this week with a holiday song that she’s titled “Bless This House.”

The singer will bring a stop-motion version of the song to the park during the weekend of Dec. 19-21.

“I’ve always wanted to do a stop-motion movie with my dad one day,” she told ABC News. “And this is the perfect time to do it. I love the Dollywood park. I always have and I always will. It’s a special place to me.”

As for why she decided to bring the song “Bless This House” to the theme park, Parton said that was because the theme park would be the perfect place to put it.

“I want to bring a little holiday cheer to Dollywood,” she said. “They have Christmas lights all around the park. They have a nice Christmas tree in the Christmas Eve show and a Christmas tree at the midway. You can see all the trees for hours. They have great food and I think it’s a theme park that needs a little Christmas cheer.”

“Bless This House” will be Parton’s 25th holiday song and will be sung to the tune of “Deck the Halls” from Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

Some of Dollywood’s other holiday music and holiday shows include a holiday show featuring Santa Claus, a holiday carol concert, and the Holiday Spectacular, one of the park’s most popular holiday productions.

“This is a very big deal,” Dollywood spokeswoman Melissa Cramer said. “Dolly has worked with the Dollywood team to make it a very special day for all guests and we couldn’t be more excited. It’s a very big day for Dollywood, for Santa, for the park, and for Dollywood.”

The show at Dollywood’s Christmas Spectacular will feature part of Dolly’s Christmas album and a special performance of “Bless This House.”
