Alessandro Michele Leaves Gucci, And His ‘Dream Project’ Is This Beautiful New Hotel

It’s a rare event when someone leaves Gucci with their hands still splayed on the brand, but that was exactly the case for Alessandro Michele. The Italian fashion designer just announced he will not work for the luxury fashion house anymore. The decision came not from a need to be creative on his own anymore, or a realization that it was time to leave Gucci, but rather that he doesn’t want to stay and run a brand he considers to be stagnating.

“I love this company with all my heart and soul, it’s a dream of mine for so many years to have the opportunity to design luxury fashion. But in the last two years I have realized that this relationship isn’t working for any of the values it’s supposed to bring out. And for me, it wasn’t possible to go on fighting and defending the vision Gucci has always had, which is so strong and positive. I’m leaving with the confidence that this time we are stronger.”

The designer will continue on his “dream project” without Gucci, but where? Just weeks ago he was selling it as “a temporary space of creativity,” but now he’s saying he wants it to be a full fledged fashion house. The place he will be making his mark on is this new, brand new Hotel he’s set to open in Milan. The Hotel Alessandro Michele is named after Alessandro Michele, the fashion designer who created Gucci’s iconic logo.

The designer, who will be making his mark on the world of fashion through the Hotel Alessandro Michele, just released the first photos of the Hotel. In one image, Michele appears to be holding up the hand of a man in a suit.
